On closure

Sometimes we don't get an answer; we don't get an explanation; we don't get an apology. We can choose to keep waiting in emotional limbo, holding on to confusion, resentment and frustration; we can choose to abdicate responsibility and blame the other; we can choose to wait for someone else to give us what we look for. Or we can choose to do that for ourselves. Sometimes closure is something we've got to find, and give to ourselves. you're doing that for you, to find peace and move on, but this is also the most sincere form of compassion to another human being - one who hurt you - because those who hurt you need healing more than they need anything else. If you can connect to that pain, one human being to another, you'll find forgiveness where once was anger. And trust me, it feels a lot lighter.
